The New South Wales Waratahs Men’s and Youth Boys Sevens teams have been announced as the latest teams confirmed for the UON Central Coast Sevens.
The Australian National Sevens Champions will face their biggest challenge yet on the Central Coast in October where they will face some of the most powerful teams in the world.
The teams will utilise the CC7s as perfect preparation in competition format to defend their national title later in the year. The tournament will also be used as a selection trial with the states coaching staff looking to unearth new talent as they head into nationals.
Tournamemt Director Craig Morgan said we welcome the Waratahs inclusion in the tournament, it will be a great test for the states best players and an opportunity for players competing in the tournament to work their way into the Waratahs 7s program and the team for nationals.
The Youth Boys team will start favourites but are expected to be tested by opponents who will all be out to impress and earn a call up to the squad with the ACT Brumbies and Fijian Flyers Nabua Broncos out to spoil the party for the field of teams who all hail from around New South Wales.
The UON Central Coast Sevens kicks off on Friday 21st October with the youth boys and girls under 17s tournament followed by international men’s and women’s events on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October.
