An anticipated powerhouse team the Northern Beaches Secondary College have been confirmed to contest the 2016 UON Central Coast Sevens Youth Boys Tournament.
NBSC has four campuses to select their boys squad from each with a strong rugby history and pedigree.
College coaching staff will be utilising the tournament to provide the players the opportunity to further develop with the experience of competing at the CC7s set to assist the players “move on to the next level of their rugby experience”.
“The Northern Beaches Secondary College will be loaded with talent” said UON Central Coast Sevens Tournament Director Craig Morgan, adding “we are familiar with the each of the campuses that encompass the NBSC and we know they have a very proud rugby history and have been the breeding ground for some of the best Rugby players in the country over the years”.
The players selected to play for the NBSC will come from the college campuses including Balgowlah Boys, Cromer, Freshwater and Manly.
Northern Beaches Secondary College add to what is shaping as a strong youth tournament line-up set to feature Clubs, College, Invitational, Representative and Overseas teams with the tournament a prime opportunity for competing athletes to be identified and selected for the New South Wales 7’s Team with state coaching staff utilising the tournament as a selection trial for their NSW representative squads who will compete at the National Titles in November.
Morgan added “we are really pleased that we can offer the competing teams a platform to rise up to state selection via the Central Coast Sevens, the tournament is all about providing opportunity and a pathway and we hope that the players take the opportunity with both hands and we see some of the athletes selected for the New South Wales team on conclusion of the tournament, we may just unearth the next group of Sevens Olympians”.
The UON Central Coast Sevens Youth Tournament will kick off Friday 21st October 2016 before the international men’s and women’s event takes place over the Saturday and Sunday where some of the strongest teams in the world will collide in what is described as one of the toughest Sevens tournaments in the world.
