Pymble Ladies College are the latest under 17’s youth girls team to be confirmed for the expanded UON Central Coast Sevens youth tournament, which has grown from an eight tournament in 2016 to a twelve team event in 2017 due to demand.
Pymble new to the game of sevens have been in regular competition throughout the year and will be looking to make a mark on more fancied opponents during the tournament.
Pymble spokeperson Michael Jenkins said “The Pymble team are looking forward to rounding out their first-ever season of Rugby Sevens with a fantastic experience at the UON Central Coast Sevens. The team has been preparing for the event this year with weekly matches in the local Sydney Sizzling 7’s competition, Gala Days and the highlight being a 4th place finish at the NSW u18 State Championships. After a strong and very encouraging first season, the prospect of challenging themselves against local, inter-state and international competitors is a rare and exciting opportunity that the girls do not want to pass up. As well, the chance to watch the International Men’s and Women’s teams play over the ensuing weekend makes the tournament even more unique and thrilling for newcomers to the world of Rugby 7’s.
Central Coast Tournament Director Craig Morgan said “we look forward to welcomibg Pymble to the tournament and we share the sentiments of Michael in that the team will have a very unique opportunity to face a variety of opponents providing a magnificent experience and development opportunity. We very much look forward to Pymble Ladies College making their debut at the tournament in October”.
