Sydney Premier Rugby Club West Harbour are the latest team confirmed for the UON Central Coast Sevens and the second premier club side (alongside Northern Suburbs) set to take the challenge of competing against some of the very best players and teams in the world.
Pirates Coach Todd Louden said “West Harbour has a renewed focus and a strong objective to develop the Clubs 7’s program to that of the premier Club 7’s program in Australia. The squad has been training for several weeks in the lead up to the UON Central Coast 7’s, as well as having a couple of tournaments under their belt in preparation”.
West Harbour are anticipated to field a very strong side with the ability to over-throw their opponents on the back of an experienced playing group and the renewed focus on development of the clubs sevens program.
Louden added “The UON Central Coast 7’s is really the start of what will be an extensive and specialized 7’s program for the West Harbour Rugby Club for the 2016 and 2017 – 7’s season.
Apart from having a number of specialist 7’s players with international experience, West Harbour believe they have unearthed a number of young players that will develop into a force on the 7’s stage”.
Tournament Director Craig Morgan said “we welcome West Harbour to the UON Central Coast Sevens and applaud the clubs renewed interest and activity in the sevens arena. We are pleased to offer the unique opportunity for our best club sides to compete against some of the best national and international teams and players in the world. To be the best you have to play the best and here you get to do that in front of the national high performance unit with significant opportunity available”.
